EZRA SIBYL BENISTY

Après avoir terminé ses études en Anglais et Français Moderne en lettres à l'Université de Lausanne et de York (Royaume-Uni), avec une spécialisation en traduction, Ezra Sibyl Benisty (non-binaire) fait une thèse de doctorat à Lausanne. En plus de son parcours académique et de son activisme queer, iel a participé à l’édition de plusieurs magazines. Iel a écrit et joué au sein du Collectif Transversal (2015-2017) une pièce intitulée The Web (2017). Iel a aussi écrit et lu/joué La Sensation des fleurs (2018), un recueil de poèmes. Pendant deux ans, iel a travaillé pour le Lausanne Shakespeare Festival en tant qu’Assistant•e à la Direction, Responsable Presse & Communication et Responsable de la ligne graphique/visuelle. En 2021, iel a ré-imaginé le logo du festival. Iel a été publié en 2020 dans la célèbre anthologie allemande Mein schwules Auge | My Gay Eye. Iel illustre la même année la couverture de Dans la ville provisoire (Éditions ZOÉ 2020), roman de Bruno Pellegrino. Tout en explorant sur Polaroïds, en musique et en textes poétiques l’intimité et la sexualité, iel travaille comme traducteurice indépendant•e et prépare la traduction des poèmes d’Angela Carter. Pour ce qui est des réseaux sociaux, iel est principalement sur Instagram. En 2021, iel expose ses Polaroïds pour la première fois. 2021 marque aussi le début de ses performances littéraires et musicales. Iel donne aussi des ateliers sur le langage inclusif et publie sa première nouvelle « Les petits fruits » chez Paulette éditrice, dans un ouvrage collectif LGBTQIA+.

Having completed their studies in English and French Literature at the Universities of Lausanne and York (UK), with a specialisation in translation, Ezra Sibyl Benisty (non-binary, they/them) is doing a PhD in Lausanne. In addition to academia and their queer activism, they have worked as an editor for several magazines. They wrote and performed a play entitled The Web (2017) within the Collectif Transversal (2015-2017) and read/performed La Sensation des fleurs (2018), a collection of poems. For two consecutive years they were the Direction Assistant, Press & Communication Manager, and Graphic Design Manager for the Lausanne Shakespeare Festival. In 2021, they reimagined the festival’s logo. They have been published in the 2020 issue of the the well-known German anthology Mein schwules Auge | My Gay Eye and have illustrated the cover of Bruno Pellegrino’s novel Dans la ville provisoire (Éditions ZOÉ, 2020). While exploring intimacy and sexuality through Polaroids, music and poetic texts, they also work as a freelance translator and are preparing the translation of Angela Carter’s poetry. As far as social media are concerned, they are mainly on Instagram. In 2021, they present an exhibition of their Polaroids for the first time. The same year, they start sharing their musical and literary performances. They also give inclusive language workshops and have their first short story “Les petits fruits” published by Paulette éditrice, in an LGBTQIA+ collection of texts.
